The Swiss tenor and Bach Prize winner Raphael Höhn is a highly sought-after singer in the field of baroque music. The international press for praised among other things “his beautiful timbre with great splendor, purest intonation, exemplary diction and vocalization” (Scherzo/Spain for a St. Matthew Passion in the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, 2023). 

He is a regular guest at major European concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the KKL Lucerne, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona. He works with renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Bachstiftung St. Gallen, the Freiburger Barockorchester, Vox Luminis, the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Dresdner Philharmonie and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.

His broad repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary music. Also Lied singing is very important to him. In addition to the great cycles such as Schubert's Winterreise or Schumann's Dichterliebe he also explores lesser-known works. He recently released the CD "Heimat", on which he and his accompanist Shin Hwang present numerous songs by the Swiss composer Friedrich Theodor Fröhlich as world premiere recordings.

He gained his first singing experience as an alto soloist with the Zurich Boys' Choir. During his vocal studies at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague he deepened his skills in classical singing and early music with Scot Weir, Rita Dams, Michael Chance, Peter Kooij and Jill Feldman. He attended master classes with Andreas Scholl, Gerd Türk, Peter Harvey and Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, among others. He received further important musical impulses from conductors such as Frans Bruggen, Laurence Cummings, Justin Doyle, Simon Gaudens, Howard Griffiths, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Ton Koopman, Vàclav Luks, Rudolf Lutz, Andrea Marcon and Jos van Veldhoven.

In the current 2024/25 season, Raphael Höhn will once again be performing Johann Sebastian Bach's major works. In December, he will sing the Weihnachtsoratorium with the Dresden Philharmonic and the Magnificat with the Munich Philharmonic. In the spring, he will go on tour through Europe as the Evangelist in the Johannes Passion with the Freiburger Barockorchester and Vox Luminis, followed by guest appearances at the Bachfest Leipzig and the Salzburger Festspiele.
